News Story - Citibank Robbery Arrest

Nature of Incident: Arrest of Bank Robbery Suspect Report Number: 17-131745 Location: Citibank; 400 block of Arneill Road, Camarillo, CA Date & Time: 12-28-17 @ 10:20 A.M. Unit(s) Responsible: Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau (S)uspects, (V)ictims, (P)arty, (D)ecedent City of Residence S- Erik Santoyo Camarillo Narrative: On 12-28-17, Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives arrested Erik Santoyo for an armed bank robbery that occurred on 08-31-17, at the Citibank branch located in the 400 block of Arneill Road in Camarillo. Santoyo was arrested at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura where he was already in custody for a separate bank robbery that occurred at the Ventura County Credit Union in the city of Moorpark on 12-15-17. On 08-31-17, Camarillo patrol deputies responded to a call of an armed bank robbery at the Citibank branch. It was discovered that a white or Hispanic male entered the bank and produced a hand written note demanding money. During the robbery, the suspect displayed a semi-automatic handgun to the bank teller and fled with cash. Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives responded to investigate the robbery. On 12-15-17, another bank robbery occurred at the Ventura County Credit Union in Moorpark. Based on evidence located at the scene of the Moorpark robbery, Erik Santoyo was quickly identified as a suspect. Major Crimes detectives identified several similarities between Santoyo and the suspect in the Citibank robbery. Major Crimes detectives worked in conjunction with investigators from the Sheriff’s East County station to locate Santoyo and take him into custody. Search warrants were served at several locations related to Santoyo and evidence linking him to both robberies was recovered. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has filed one felony count of armed robbery against Santoyo for the Citibank robbery. He appeared in court on 12-29-17 and entered a plea of not guilty.
