...Snow and Ice-Covered Roads, Black Ice Expected...

Snow and ice-covered roads will persist overnight, especially across portions of northeast Kansas into northwest Missouri. The highest snow and ice totals occurred along and northwest of a line from Olathe Kansas to Trenton Missouri. Those traveling from southeast sections of the Kansas City Metro area to northwestern sections of the city should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating road conditions, especially on secondary roadways.

Temperatures will continue to fall tonight into the single digits and teens. Any remaining moisture resting on the surface in liquid form will quickly freeze this evening, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions. The black ice will especially be prevalent along untreated, secondary roadways and walkways. Exercise caution and slow down if travel is necessary, including the evening and morning commute.

With breezy northwest winds, wind chills will be significantly colder, with values between 0 to 10 below zero tonight.
