URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC
1051 AM EST Tue Jan 16 2018

...LIGHT SNOW EXPECTED ACROSS PARTS OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND
NORTHEAST GEORGIA LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT...

.A fast moving cold front is expected to approach from the west
today and move across the region late this afternoon through
tonight. A band of light precipitation will accompany the front
as it passes. Temperatures will fall off quickly as the front
passes. Although the precipitation may begin as a brief period of
rain, it should quickly mix with and change to light snow.
Although the amount of snow will be light, generally on the order
of 1-2 inches over the mountains and the I-77 corridor, and an
inch or less elsewhere, the cold temperatures may allow the snow
to stick to untreated roads, resulting in numerous travel problems
on untreated roads early Wednesday, including the morning rush
hour. The snow should end by midday Wednesday.
