Northfield Twp Police continue to strive in keeping Northfield Twp a quality place to live, work and play. 2017 wrapped up the year with nearly 5400 calls for service; up from the 5000 in 2016. November and December wrapped up the year with the following incidents being reported:
11/05/17 *Drug Overdose –
E. Shore - Narcan administered, victim transported to U of M for continued medical support
11/05/17 *Child Welfare Issue
Case investigated and forwarded to Child Protective Agency
11/05/17 *Arrest - Domestic Violence -Assault & Battery
Officers investigated the complaint and arrested suspect – warrant requested and case forwarded to prosecutor for review
11/05/17 * Arrest Fugitive Warrant
E. North Territorial & Whitmore Lake - Traffic Violation (Expired Plates) led to discovery that the driver had an outstanding warrant. Driver arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.
11/06/17 *Arrest Fugitive Warrant
Turquoise & Onyx Circle - Felony Fraud State of MI – Display illegal 2018 tabs – Traffic violation stop determined the driver was driving on a suspended license and had several outstanding warrants. Driver arrested and turned over to jurisdiction holding warrants.

Emerald Circle – Credit card Fraud – unauthorized Amazon purchase– Charges in dispute –case documented - No suspects, No witnesses, Case closed.
11/07/17 *Illegal Dumping Complaint
U.S 23 & North Territorial - Investigation identified the subject involved, property was removed, no prosecution desired - Case Closed.
11/09/17 *Disorderly Incident
1700 Block of E. North Territorial –An aggressive verbal argument by knowns subjects– dispute mediated and subjects separated – case closed
11/09/17 *Malicious Destruction of Property
9000 Block of Timbercrest – Punctured tires discovered in driveway - No suspects, no witnesses – Case Inactive
11/10/17 *Misdemeanor Citation
E. North Territorial & Nollar - Traffic Violation resulted in identifying driver with expired license. Misdemeanor ticket issued
11/11/17 *Arrest -Driving while License Suspended / Fugitive Warrant
U.S 23 & Joy Rd – Traffic Violation resulted in driver with a suspended license, no vehicle insurance and wanted on an outstanding warrant from Lenawee County –driver arrested and issued Misdemeanor citation
11/13/17 *Home Invasion
200 Block of Emerald Circle -Incident occurred 11/12/17 between 9 & 10 PM Possible suspect identified, but cleared, Investigation Continues
11/14/17 *Arrest – Marijuana Possession
Barker & Main St - Traffic Stop resulted in discovery of suspected marijuana – Marijuana confiscated – awaiting lab analysis
11/15/2017 *Arrest –Operating while Intoxicated
Seven Mile & Earhart – Officer observed vehicle in the ditch and determined driver was under the influence of intoxicating liquors – the investigation led to blood samples being taken and lab results indicating subject was beyond the legal limit – Prosecutor issued Misdemeanor charges of Operating a motor vehicle while Intoxicated
11/17/2017 *Arrest-Driving on Suspended License
North Territorial & U.S 23 – Traffic violation stop resulted in the discovery of driver driving on a suspended license, driver arrested and vehicle impounded –Driver released with a Misdemeanor citation.
11/18/2017 *Arrest – Driving on Suspended License
Six Mile & Shady Beach – Officer recognized subject driving on a suspended license – stop of driver confirmed license remained suspended several times – driver arrested and charges submitted to the prosecutor who authorized second offense suspended driving charges.
11/20/2017 *Trespass on Private Grounds
6800 Block of Spencer – owner of property observed unknown subject on property – possibly hunting without permission – officers investigated and identified a neighbor’s relative as the subject – it was determined that no criminal intent occurred – no further action taken
11/24/2017 *Arrest-No Vehicle Insurance / Possession of Marijuana
Main & East Shore – Traffic violation stop (no visible plate) resulted in officer determining the driver was driving an uninsured vehicle and was illegally in possession of medical marijuana. Vehicle impounded, Marijuana confiscated and awaiting lab analysis for prosecutors review.
11/27/2017 *Larceny (theft) of Property
Emerald Circle – Homeowner reported Amazon order was not on porch as tracking had revealed. Per tracking complainants order was left at 3:30 pm, but when he arrived home at 4:30 pm the parcel was not there. At the time of the report there were no witnesses or suspects -
1/29/2017 *Arrest Fugitive Warrant
200 block of Emerald Circle – Officers advised of a subject wanted on an outstanding warrant – officers arrived, identified suspect and took him into custody. Suspect was turned over to the jurisdiction holding the Misdemeanor warrant
11/30/2017 *Malicious Destruction of Property
9400 Block of Main –1040 am complainant discovered his vehicle rear window broken out and windshield wiper twisted and bent. The vehicle had been parked overnight – No witnesses, No suspects at the time of the report – video footage was attempted to be reviewed without success – Case inactive
11/30/2017 *Attempt Home Invasion
200 Block of Emerald Circle –homeowner returned home to discover window appeared to have been pried but entry was not gained and no property determined to be missing - evidence was collected by responding officer, investigation is waiting lab results
12/01/2017 *Fraud Complaint
3500 Joy Rd – Victim having trouble with her computer – googled tech support and contacted the number provided – through her contact she was convinced to upgrade her computer system and receive a new printer –Victim gave “tech support” access to her computer and her financial account for payment – victim did not receive printer nor updates and received fraudulent purchases against her accounts – Credit cards cancelled, banking institutions notified and a case remains under investigation
12/01/2017 *Larceny (Theft) of Property
7900 Block of Coyle – Investigation revealed property was stolen from owners grill, a witness was interviewed and suspect identified – property returned and no prosecution desired.
12/04/2017 *Breaking & Entering Attached Garage
5100 Block of Pontiac Trail – between Midnight & 8am an unknown subject entered open garage and removed a power mower, during the report it was also discovered that the perpetrator broke a vehicle window and rifled through the vehicle. No suspects or witnesses were determined at the time of the report. Case remains open
12/05/2017 *Expired Plate/ Driving an uninsured vehicle on roadway
U.S 23 & North Territorial – Expired Plate violation resulted in determining the vehicle was uninsured and being driven on a public roadway. Citations issued for expired plates and no insurance, vehicle was impounded & Misdemeanor charges were authorized
12/05/2017 *Home Invasion
4900 Block of E. North Territorial between 8:30 am & 7:15 pm someone entered and rummaged through the home removing a television. Entry was gained by kicking in the rear door and exiting through a secondary rear door. Evidence was collected at the scene and the case remains open awaiting lab results
12/06/2017 *Larceny (Theft) of Outside Christmas Decorations
8900 Block of Sunflower Dr – Victim observed a White Chevy Malibu parked in front of his home, victim then discovered his 2 foot Christmas Candy Canes taken from his driveway- Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect or the property.
12/08/2017 * Arrest –Drive while License Suspended/ Possession of Marijuana / Fugitive Warrant
Jomar Dr & North Territorial - Driver was recognized as one driving on a suspended license, upon stop it was discovered that driver had an outstanding warrant and was in possession of suspected marijuana, suspected marijuana confiscated and forwarded to the lab for analysis

W. North Territorial & Maple – Traffic Violation resulted in discovery of Marijuana – Case awaiting lab results and prosecutors review
12/09/2017 *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated / Drive on Suspended License / Fugitive Warrant / Crash Investigation
Officers responded to a crash investigation, where it was determined the driver was suspected of being under the influence of intoxicating liquors, did not have a valid driver’s license and had an outstanding warrant – a warrant for blood was sought for the uncooperative driver and the case remains open awaiting lab results
12/09/201 *Felonious Assault
6800 Block of Spencer – Investigation of neighbor issues determined that a firearm was pointed at another causing fear – Officers identified the suspect and the prosecutor authorized Felonious Assault charges against the suspect/neighbor.
12/10/2017 *Arrest – Fugitive Warrant
6 Mile & Coyle- Officer received information on a subject wanted on an outstanding warrant – Officer observed subject driving in the area. Subject was arrested on the warrant and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.
12/11/2017 *Arrest – Fugitive Warrant
8300 Block of Main St – During an encounter with an individual it was determined the subject had an outstanding warrant. The warrant was confirmed, the subject detained and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.
12/17/2017 *Arrest – Drive on Suspended License / Marijuana Possession
6 Mile & Coyle – Traffic Violation (obscured License plate) resulted in determining driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was illegally in possession of medical marijuana. Case awaiting lab results and prosecutors review.

East Shore & Lakeview Dr. - Traffic Violation resulted in discovering driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was illegally in possession of medical marijuana. Case awaiting lab results and prosecutors review
12/20/2017 *Fraud – Obtaining money through False Pretenses
5800 Block of Hellner – Victim was fraudulently persuaded to purchase “Money Paks” and provide the transaction numbers to an individual representing himself as a county deputy tracking down jurors who had not fulfilled their jury duty obligation. Case remains under investigation.
12/23/17 *Fight in Progress – Assault & Battery
8800 Main St– Middle School - Adults Fighting - Investigation resulted in Assault & Battery Charges submitted for the Prosecutor’s review
12/24/17 *Disturbance
300 Block of East Shore – Incident between known parties – Situation Mediated. Case Closed
12/26/17 *Arrest -Drive while license Suspended
Six Mile & Edmond – Traffic Violation resulted in discovery of driver driving on a suspended license - Driver Arrested and Vehicle Impounded
12/27/17 *Investigate Narcotic Operation
A tip led to a narcotics investigation which revealed a legal medical marijuana caregiver in compliance with the MI Medical Marijuana laws - Case Closed
12/28/17 *Disorderly Conduct
Investigation revealed former friend was contacting victim – subject advised of laws against Stalking. Case Closed.
12/28/17 *Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
Victim lost wallet and discovered several unauthorized charges against his credit cards, cards cancelled - purchases outside NTPD jurisdiction - Case Closed
12/30/17 *Disorderly Conduct – Medical Transport
50 Block of Barker – Intoxicated injured subject transported to hospital via ambulance
In addition officers responded to several Domestic Violence incidents, Citizen Assists, Crash Reports, and Property checks.
