...Significant Winter Storm Expected This Evening Into Monday... .The first widespread significant snowstorm of the winter will really ramp up tonight. Blizzard conditions are expected across portions of south central Nebraska into northwestern and north central Kansas. Some areas could measure more than a foot of snow that will be accompanied by north winds of 30 mph gusting to around 45 mph. ...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CST MONDAY...
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very dangerous to impossible, including during the morning commute on Monday. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches, with localized amounts up to 11 inches, are expected. The visibility will likely be reduced to less than one quarter mile and even near zero at times especially after midnight and into Monday morning.
* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and east central and south central Nebraska.
* WHEN...Until 3 PM CST Monday. Blizzard conditions will hold off until after midnight.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely.
