Narrative:

A sheriff’s deputy in the Ojai Valley arrested a man Tuesday wanted by the US Marshal’s Office for two counts of attempted murder in Colorado.

Deputy Kathryn Torres was on routine patrol when she observed a vehicle with expired registration tags. Deputy Torres conducted a vehicle stop and contacted two male occupants. After a brief investigation, Torres arrested both men for drug-related offenses. The driver did not have any identification in his possession, but provided the name of Kyle Smith. When Kyle was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility fingerprints and booking photo were collected. Due to his lack of identification, he was not eligible for a release on his own recognizance until his prints confirmed his identity.

A check of his prints indicated his true identify as Greg Boren from Greeley, Colorado. Boren was wanted by the US Marshals Office for two counts of attempted murder. His case had been featured on “America’s Most Wanted Fans” in 2013. America’s Most Wanted Fans is an unofficial fan page for America’s Most Wanted and The Hunt with John Walsh.

Boren will remain in custody in Ventura County until he can be extradited to Colorado to face charges there.
