On 01/26/2018 just after 2:00 pm, alleged non-compliant registered sex offender Ted J. Benhower was located and taken into custody by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office without incident. Benhower was located in the 2600 block of north CR 400 W near Crooked Lake in rural Steuben County. Sheriff’s deputies were acting on a citizen tip when Benhower was located. Benhower was booked into the Steuben County Jail on 2 felony counts of failure to register as a sex or violent offender where he remains held without bond pending an initial court appearance. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all those who assisted with tips and information.
