SRJC District Police Officers Arrest Suspect With Knife

On the evening of Thursday, January 25, 2018 a Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) District Police Department Officer contacted Robert Thresh, 56 years of age and a transient Santa Rosa resident. The officer first observed Thresh at 6:00 p.m. when his vehicle was seen illegally parked in a disabled parking space on Burbank Circle on the Santa Rosa Campus. Thresh told the officers he was doing repairs on the vehicle and he would move it shortly. The officer allowed Thresh to make the repair to the vehicle and returned to routine patrol. The officer returned at 8:30 p.m. to find Thrush now sleeping in his car and contacted him once again. Thresh said he would repair the vehicle and leave.

District Police officers saw the vehicle still on Burbank Circle at 11:15 p.m. and once again made contact with Thresh who was sleeping in the vehicle. The officers told him that campus was closed and he had to now move his vehicle. Thresh then became angry and uncooperative. While speaking with Thresh, an officer saw a large fixed blade knife under the driver’s seat. The officers gave Thresh a legal order to get out of the vehicle but he refused. Officers attempted to remove Thresh from the vehicle but he became combative, kicking and punching the officers.

After a brief struggle, three District Police officers were able to subdue Thresh who was placed under arrest for possession of a fixed blade knife on a school campus and resisting arrest. Thresh was transported and booked into Sonoma County Jail.

Two District Police officers received minor injuries and one officer was treated at an emergency room for the minor injuries and was released. The suspect received some minor cuts and scrapes and was medically cleared prior to booking into jail.
