Morgan Hill Police Department Targets Impaired Drivers during Super Bowl weekend

Morgan Hill Police Department Targets
Impaired Drivers during Super Bowl weekend

Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over

Morgan Hill, CA – Morgan Hill Police Department will be conducting proactive DUI enforcement efforts during this Super Bowl weekend. Officers will be deployed during peak hours for the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for the community.

Officers specifically trained in DUI recognition will be deployed throughout the city contacting drivers during enforcement stops looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, court probation and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

Directed DUI enforcement is an effort to prevent and reduce DUI driving that often results in collisions that cause serious injury or death. This enforcement effort is in line with the city’s recent implementation of Vision Zero program. Officers will also be checking drivers for proper licensing. A major component of this enforcement effort is the deterrent effect it has on those who might drive drunk or drugged impaired and bring about more awareness, encouraging everyone to use sober designated drivers during the Super Bowl weekend.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), directed DUI enforcement efforts have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, and resulted in the decrease of injury/ fatal traffic collisions.
