Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities or the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 2/2/18, through Sunday, 2/4/18.

2/2/18

-3100 blk Canada Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a reported verbal disturbance involving child custody at a residence in the area. Civil remedies were advised to all parties. Parties were separated and no offenses were reported.

-FM 1585 at Hwy 385, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a dog loose near the intersection. A dog was spotted in the area and Levelland Animal Control responded to assist.

-200 blk E. 1st St, Anton: Aggravated Assault. Deputies responded to a reported assault at a business in the area. The complainant stated he had been assaulted by another individual. The suspect fled the area prior to arrival of deputies. The complainant suffered several injuries and stated the suspect cut him with a bottle. The suspect was later located and taken into custody for Aggravated Assault.

-Elk Rd at FM 2646, Vehicle Crash. Deputies assisted on the scene of a single vehicle crash in the area. Troopers arrived and conducted the crash investigation.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Civil Issue. A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding a civil issue involving an eviction. Civil remedies were advised.

2/3/18

-FM 168 at US 84, Anton: Assist DPS. A deputy assisted a trooper on a traffic contact in the area. Two individuals were later transported to the jail.

-100 blk Leon Rd, Smyer: Missing Person. Deputies were notified of a possible missing person that may be in Hockley County from another state. Several addresses were provided as possible locations. Deputies checked multiple locations but the individual was not located. Deputies were later advised the individual reported missing was located.

-800 blk Grant St, Smyer: Suspicious Person. A deputy responded to the area related to an unknown male subject walking the neighborhood attempting to sell cleaning supplies. The area was checked and the individual was not located. Similar calls were received in Levelland recently and the individuals were operating without proper permits in Levelland.

-500 blk Tim, Levelland: Shots Fired. Deputies were dispatched to the area related to a complaint of a gunshot being heard. The area was searched and no one was located. No other calls were received.

-US 62/82 at FM 41, Ropesville: Reckless Driver. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate a reckless driver on the highway traveling toward Ropesville. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

2/4/18

-US 62/82 at Kildee Rd, Ropesville: Illegal Dumping. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of illegal dumping. The area was checked and no trash or dumped items were located.

-US 62/82 at Quail Rd, Ropesville: Unoccupied Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check status on a vehicle parked along the roadway. The vehicle was secure and the deputy will attempt to notify the owners.

-500 blk Igoe, Anton: Criminal Mischief. A deputy responded to a complaint of damage to a vehicle. Information for a report was collected and the matter remains under investigation.

-300 blk FM 1490, Levelland: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a fire in the backyard. The fire was extinguished prior to arrival of deputies.

-100 blk Lacy Ln, Opdyke West: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a reported disturbance at a residence in the area. Neither party reported an offenses and parties were separated when one individual was arrested for active warrants. The subject was transported and booked on the warrants.

-6600 blk Colorado Rd, Smyer: Vehicle Crash. A deputy responded to a reported crash in the area. A trooper arrived on scene to conduct the investigation and one individual was arrested for active warrants.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and traffic enforcement.

Jail population as of 2/5/18 at 0800 hours: 53 in Hockley County, 6 to be processed, 2 out of county.
