The Janesville Police Department recently received the Community Improvement Award from Forward Janesville. The award was given during Forward Janesville’s 17th Annual Banquet.

At the ceremony, Chief David Moore discussed the demands expected of our employees and the effects of the negative national dialogue on policing have had on our officers and their families. Chief Moore also reviewed the crime prevention efforts the department has developed since the Great Recession and the loss of the GM Plant in Janesville. These efforts have played an important role to economic development in Janesville.

Twelve police employees attended the ceremony representing Janesville’s Thin Blue Line. The employees received 2 robust standing ovations.

In a time when many police departments are in conflict with their communities, the Janesville Police Department enjoys broad community support. We are honored to have received this award.
