On February 5, 2018, at 6:56 p.m. the Fremont Police Dispatch Center received a call reporting a major injury collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Blacow Road at Gatewood Drive. Several Fremont officers responded with lights and siren. When they arrived on scene, an 18 year old male, Fremont resident, was laying unresponsive in the roadway. The driver of the involved vehicle, a 48 year old female Fremont resident, remained at the scene.
The driver was cooperative and traffic investigators obtained a preliminary statement at the scene. Traffic investigators also took a statement from one witness. Based on information gathered, officers believe the pedestrian was walking south across Blacow Road at Gatewood Drive. The driver was traveling east bound on Blacow Road. The driver collided with the pedestrian, as he was crossing Blacow Road.
The pedestrian sustained major head injuries considered to be life threatening and was transported to a trauma center. Fremont Police officers were able to make notification with the family of the pedestrian.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected of being a factor in this collision.
