The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

February 7th

0711 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated an auto burglary on the 39100 block of Cedar Boulevard. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0911 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a grab and run theft of alcohol at Ranch 99 Market, 35219 Newark Boulevard.

1048 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 42-year-old Newark male for being under the influence of a controlled substance and a probation violation on Sycamore Street at Carter Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1400 Hours: Officer Ackerman responded to a disturbance on Cedar Boulevard at Baine Avenue. A 35-year-old Newark male was arrested for being under the influence. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1416 Hours: Officer Fredstrom recovered a Honda Accord that was reported stolen out of San Jose on the 5700 block of San Antonio Way. The vehicle was released to a family member of the registered owner.

1843 Hours: Officer Cervantes responded to Food Maxx (39966 Cedar Blvd) for a petty theft. The store manager followed the suspect, 23-year-old transient male to a nearby business where he was arrested by Officer Cervantes and Sergeant Todd. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1954 Hours: While conducting a security check of the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court, Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 27-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

2100 Hours: Officers Losier and Musantry contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 37000 block of Locust Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
