2/8/2018 WINTER STORM UPDATE: WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY.
* Snow should begin to fall around 10 pm tonight.
* The peak time for this event will be between 5 am and 5 pm on Friday.
* Accumulations of 8-12 in are possible north of U.S. 30 and between 6-8 in south of U.S. 30. (NOTE: Higher or lower amounts may be possible depending on the exact track of the system)
* This will be a heavy wet snow which will make for hazardous driving conditions, difficult to shovel, and could lead to isolated power outages.
* Another system snow will come through on Saturday morning and last through Saturday afternoon adding up to an additional 3 in. of snow.

REMEMBER: Be smart when shoveling snow. Over exertion can lead to injuries, heart attacks and death.

Cold weather puts an extra strain on the heart. If you have heart disease or high blood pressure, follow your doctor’s advice about shoveling snow or performing other hard work in the cold.
• Dress warmly and work slowly. Your body is already working hard just to stay warm, so don’t overdo it. Take breaks every few minutes and stretch by standing up straight.
• Push the snow. Don’t lift. If you must lift, use your legs not your back.
• Stay dry. Wet clothing chills the body rapidly. Excess perspiration will increase heat loss, so remove extra layers of clothing whenever you feel too warm.
