Today at approximately 12:30 am. Jahsiah James Lee aka “GWALA” was unpleasantly surprised when U.S. Marshals magically appeared at an apartment he was hiding out at in Arlington, Texas.  So magic was their appearance that “GWALA” thought for a moment that he also was a magician and attempted to “fly” by trying to escape through a 3rd story window.  As agents kicked in the door,  Gwala realized that Aladdin’s magic carpet had no interest in aiding and abetting his escape as his family and friends had been doing the past year.

Gwala made #1 on Sheriff Victor Hill’s Top Ten Most Wanted back in September 2016 when he and members of his Brim Blood’s gang had broken in to a man’s home stealing his iPhone and other items.  The victim of the burglary traced his iphone to where Gwala and his thugs were at.  When the victim confronted them about breaking into his house, Gwala shot him six times.  The victim fell on his back, lifted his head once and died.

The victim in this murder was a young man who was in the process of turning his life around, and was being mentored by Chief Juvenile Court Judge Steven Teske.  The circumstances of this murder incensed the Sheriff of Clayton County to the point that he ordered his elite Fugitive Squad to spare no expense or resources finding Gwala.

In a manhunt that lasted over a year, Gwala’s Brim Blood gang members began to pay the price.  While once boldly and frequently posting on social media pictures of themselves posing with guns and drugs bragging “about that life”, Sheriff Victor Hill’s special forces showed them who was boss in Clayton County.  One by one they were taken down forcing them to take their operation out of Clayton and remove all of their posts from social media.  They were all told in no uncertain terms that they would never know peace again in life until Gwala was found.  Meanwhile the Elite Fugitive Squad partnering with U.S. Marshals were busy tracing and tracking Gwala.

The manhunt led to New York City.  Sheriff Victor Hill himself flew to New York to look for Gwala along with NYPD Fugitive Detectives.  So much pressure was placed on Gwala by the NYPD that it flushed him out and forced him to flee to Texas.

U.S. Marshals and the elite Fugitive Squad stayed hot on a trail that was now fresh and tracked Gwala to Texas.  Hours of surveillance and patience led to a checkmate scenario for this murderer  where there was no possibility escape.  

 Gwala is now the poster child message to any thugs or gangs left in our county that none of them can or will escape the “long arm of the law” that the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office wields.  Gwala will soon be brought back to Clayton County to face the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail now better know as the “Hill ton”.

A special thank you is in order to the U.S. Marshals and the NYPD for their relentless assistance in this manhunt.  We are also proud of our elite Fugitive Squad and other Special Forces who once again have proven that they are the best in the world at what they do!

Sheriff Victor Hill has now also ordered an investigation into everyone who aided and abetted Gwala’s run from the law for so long.  Soon they will join him for his extended stay at the luxurious “Hill ton”
