February 9th, on two separate occassions this date, two citizens of West Tennessee have called informing the Jackson Police Department of someone attempting to scam information.
In both situations, the scammer contacted the would be victims advising a family member had been involved in a serious traffic accident. The scammer attempted to gain names and other valuable information.
According to the would be victims, the scammer called from a 615 area code. Both potential victims advised the scammer had a foreign accent.
If anyone else receives a call of this nature, DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION or entertain the call!!!! If you are concerned a family member has been involved in an accident or any other incident, hang up the phone and contact the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400.
