Advisory

Spring 2018 Citizen Police Academy to start March 15th. Class size is limited, apply today!

Chief Raymond Hayducka announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2018 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy.  The Academy will give community members a behind the scenes look at policing.  A dozen officers and detectives will share their perspective and insights into the daily workings of the police department.

The Academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law, and use of force.  In addition citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs.  The Academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes, and other realistic scenarios.  The Academy will start on March 15th.  Classes will be held every Thursday night in the training center at police headquarters for 11 weeks from 6:30pm-9:30pm. Graduation from the Academy is set for May 24th.

The Academy size is limited, so residents are encouraged to complete their application as soon as possible.  In order to be admitted into the Academy community members must complete an application and go through a screening process.  Interested community members should contact Julie Trammell by email at [email protected].  Applications MUST be submitted by February 23rd.
