**PLEASE BE AWARE OF FRAUDULENT PHONE CALLS**

There is a man impersonating a Winhall Police Officer making calls in our surrounding area. Representing himself as Lt. Thomas Daniels of the Winhall Police Department. The phone number provided to people to return the call is 802-505-7097. There is no such person at our police department and this is a fraudulent call and there is no such phone number associated with our department. Badge number #70053 (there are no such badge numbers).

In one of the calls that was made, this person is claiming that you didn't respond to a summons for jury duty and claims you have committed a felony. If you receive one of these calls, do not believe this person, do not drive to the police department. He can be identified as having a heavy Caribbean accent.

Upon returning a call to the number provided, the person claimed to be the person that is calling around claiming to be from the Bennington County Sheriffs Office, Sgt. Brown, and they have an accent.

**EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION**
There is a person impersonating himself as Sergeant Brown of the Bennington County Sheriff's Department, demanding that people come up with bail on a outstanding arrest. The phone number provided to people to return the call is 802-505-7097. We called this phone number and the person identified himself as Sergeant Brown of the BCSD. Sheriff Schmidt does not have a Sergeant Brown on the payroll. THIS CALL IS A HOAX.

The person promptly hung up on us when we called him and not no one will pick up on the call.

We do not make calls like this, will will send uniformed Deputies out into the field.
