The City of Duarte and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department would like residents to be aware that two car burglaries occurred between late evening Wednesday, February 21 to early morning Thursday, February 22  in the Fish Canyon or Area 12 and Rancho Duarte or Area 11 of Duarte. 

On the 3100  Block of Fish Canyon Road, unknown person(s) shattered a rear window and stole tools out of a commercial work truck.
 
On the 2600 Block of Hacienda Drive, unknown person(s) shattered a front window and stole a purse containing documents with personal information and stole the front license plate from the car.

What can I do to protect my street?
-          Be alert for unfamiliar people and sounds. Do not ignore sounds such as glass breaking, your car alarm, or abnormal dog barking. If you see suspicious people in your neighborhood call Temple Station dispatch immediately (626) 285-7171 as a burglary could be in progress.
-          If possible park your vehicle in a garage or within a gated front yard or driveway.
-          Park in well-lit areas and consider installing motion lights in your driveway.
-          If you have video surveillance, be sure to monitor it remotely for unusual motion.
-          Keep your car clean and take all valuables home including items stored in the trunk. Also prevent identity theft by removing any documents with personal information.
