GBPD and school district to address community concerns Media only

The Green Bay Police Department and the Green Bay Area Public School District work daily to keep students and staff safe at school. With the heightened sense of school security due to the recent school shooting in Parkland Florida, Chief Andrew J. Smith and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Langenfeld will be holding a press conference at 10:00 AM at the Green Bay Police Department at 307 South Adams Street to outline action taken and future steps to address the community's concerns.

After Wednesday's social media threat, several parents have brought forth their concerns, voiced their fear, and displayed apprehension about student and school safety. GBPD and GBAPS want to ensure the community that every child's and staff member’s safety is our highest priority.

As a result of the concerns, on March 8th, GBPD and GBAPS will be hosting a “Community Engagement Session” to give all parents, legislators, and community members a voice in suggesting ideas and recommendations as well as encourage discussion about school safety.

This press conference is for media only. Media can set up at 9:45 AM. Please follow us on Facebook as the press conference will live on Facebook. Lt. Jeff Brester will be on scene to help coordinate.
