On Sunday, February 25, 2018, about 10:31 PM, officers from the Perris Police Department responded to the report of a man with a gun at a business near the intersection of Nuevo Road and Perris Boulevard within the city of Perris.

The officers arrived at the location, and contacted the adult male suspect who was armed with a handgun, and an officer involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was injured during the incident. Officers summoned paramedics to the scene, and the suspect was transported to an area hospital where his condition is classified as critical. No officers or citizens were injured as a result of this incident. The suspect’s name will not be released at this time, pending the ongoing investigation.

The officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave per department policy. The involved officers' names will not be released at this time. Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff Department's Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. This is an active investigation and no additional details are available at this time.
