Four auto burglars in custody thanks to YOU! (and MHPD).
The first incident occurred on Friday, 2/23 when an MHPD Officer conducted a vehicle stop at 2:53pm near E. Dunne and Hill Rd. The occupants were 17 and 16 years old out of the East Bay and on probation for weapons related charges. After a probation search of the vehicle, Officers located numerous items including; a leather Coach briefcase, a new men’s watch still in the box, an Apple Ipad, designer sunglasses, sunglass case, and a GoPro camera.
As the officer was completing the search, MHPD Dispatch advised that a citizen called in to report his vehicle had just been broken into and named the above items as stolen. The two juveniles were arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools (window punch). They were cited and later released to their parents.
The second incident case took place on Sunday 2/25 at 12:44pm. An alert citizen reported seeing two suspicious men sitting in a car and smoking something out of a piece of tin foil while parked at the Chevron Gas Station on Cochrane at Madrone Parkway. MHPD officers responded immediately and made contact with the two men as they were now parked in front of the mini mart. They right away noticed narcotic paraphernalia in plain sight inside the car. As more Officers arrived on scene and the occupants were removed from the vehicle, Officers observed a handgun between the passenger door and floorboard. Both occupants were placed into handcuffs and arrested. The handgun was determined to be a BB gun and almost impossible to ascertain real from fake without manipulating the weapon.
During a search of the vehicle incident to arrest, Officers located a multitude of stolen property and weapons. They found stolen credit cards, gift cards, stolen license plates, a machete, military discharge papers and none of them belonged to the occupants. Officers also located and recovered smoking pipes, tin foil with narcotic residue and .71 grams of presumptive positive heroin. The vehicle contained so much property that it was impounded for evidence. It is believed that upwards of 25-30 additional victims property will be identified and recovered.
The suspects are identified as Tyler Del Vecchia, 27, of Morgan Hill and Justin J. Holderfield, 30, of Morgan Hill. Both suspects admitted to burglarizing “so many vehicles that they could not even remember all of the locations”. The two men were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of: Possession of Stolen Property, Auto Burglary, Under the influence of a Controlled Substance, possession of Paraphernalia, possession of Heroin, Possession of an expandable baton, and possession of an imitation firearm.
