Traffic Bureau Holds Enforcement Operation in Memory of Zachary Cruz

This morning from 7:00am-12:00pm, the Berkeley Police Traffic Bureau in conjunction with the Zachary Cruz foundation will be conducting a Traffic Enforcement Operation at the intersection of Warring and Derby Streets.  This operation, which is funded by a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, will focus on education and enforcement of stop sign, seatbelt, and right of way violations.

Zachary Cruz was only 5 years old when he was killed while crossing the street at the intersection of Warring Street and Derby Streets on February 27th, 2009.  In 2010 the Berkeley City Council issued a proclamation declaring March as Zachary Cruz Pedestrian Safety Month.  Today’s efforts, made in his memory are intended to help safeguard our community through education on traffic safety and enforcement.
