Shooting leaves one juvenile injured, another juvenile charged with weapons violations

Evansville Police have arrested a 16 year old in connection with a shooting that left another 16 year old injured.
The shooting happened just after 2:00pm in the 2300 block of Haven Dr. The victim was being transported to a local hospital in a private vehicle when the driver saw a marked EPD car at Main St and Columbia. The driver flagged the officer down and told them the shooting victim was unconscious in their car.
Officers were able to render first and transported the victim to the hospital in a patrol car.
The shooter was identified in the initial 911 call and officers were able to take him into custody a few blocks from the shooting scene. A handgun has been recovered.
The suspect has been placed in the Youth Care Center on Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm and Child in Possession of Firearm charges.
Police have not been able to speak with the victim yet. The investigation is ongoing. Additional details are not available at this time.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
