On February 28, 2018, at approximately 9:28 P.M. deputies with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence on Oak Grove Road in Southern Giles County. E-911 dispatchers told responding officers that a female 911 caller stated that Cameron Curtis was at the house and had killed his mother. Upon arrival, deputies were confronted by Curtis who charged at them. Curtis was subdued, and an investigation ensued. Deputies located a female lying on the floor in the residence bleeding profusely from about her head. Deputies summoned an ambulance and rendered aide to her. A Giles County Ambulance arrived shortly after that and transported the victim to a level one trauma center in Nashville. Investigators were dispatched to the scene and collected evidence. Cameron Curtis was transported to the Giles County Jail and charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault. He remains in the Giles County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance is set for March 8, 2018, at 8:30 A.M. The victim remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition. The crime is still under investigation, and other charges may be forthcoming.
