Former Student Arrested for Having Rifle Inside His Car in School Parking Lot.
Salida, CA – This morning at approximately 8:10 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Gregori High School after school security had detained a former student for coming onto school property. An alert parent had informed school security that a former 16-year old male student was sitting inside his car, near the student drop off area in the parking lot.
The student, who was known to security staff also, was quickly located as he was still sitting inside his car. While security staff was speaking to the former student, he did inform them he did have a rifle in his car. The student was detained by school security and the Sheriff’s Department was notified.
The former student did not make any threats against the school, students, or staff before or during this incident. His reason for coming campus was to retrieve personal property he believed he left in a locker.
When Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they searched the former student’s car and located an unloaded rifle and miscellaneous ammunition inside. The student was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall for 626.2 PC (dismissed student disrupting school operations), 626.8(a)(3) PC (unauthorized entry onto school grounds), 626.9(b) PC (possession of firearm in school zone), and 30310a PC (possession of ammunition on school grounds).
