Marshall Co. Health to offer Tdap(Tetnus) shots to anyone affected by floods, this Sat. at Plymouth Fire Dept. 8a-11a
MARSHALL COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO OFFER FREE Tdap (TETANUS) SHOTS FOR ANYONE AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS, INCLUDING VOLUNTEERS AT SATURDAY’S CLEANUP EVENT
Plymouth- Marshall County Health officials are urging anyone dealing in and around the floods to make sure they are current on their tetanus booster.
“When we learned that 200 people, on one day, were going to be working in the flood affected area providing cleanup, we knew we had to take action. We worked with the City planners to set up a clinic for the volunteers and anyone who is dealing with the floodwater. We encourage anyone working in the cleanup effort to know their vaccine status,” said Lisa Letsinger, the Marshall County Health Department’s Public Health Nurse.

What is tetanus and tetanus vaccine?
• Tetanus is a disease contracted by getting the tetanus bacteria into an open cut or wound. Although tetanus is rare, it can be very serious or even fatal.
• Tetanus is preventable by making sure a person is up to date on their tetanus immunization. This is usually done by getting a tetanus booster every 10 years.
