On March 2, 2018, at about 7:25a.m. the Shorewood Police Department responded to the 1500 Block E. Marion St. for a theft of a motor vehicle left unattended and running in the driveway. The vehicle was recovered within 20 minutes abandoned in the City of Milwaukee. The Shorewood Police Department would like to remind our residents to never leave any vehicle unoccupied while it is running or to leave a vehicle unoccupied with keys to the vehicle inside of it. These thefts can happen at any time if the opportunity is present, a vast majority of the recent incidents have occurred in the morning hours while the vehicles were left running and unattended while “warming up.” We encourage everyone to lock your vehicle and take your keys with you any time you leave it unattended. Doing so takes away the criminal opportunity described above.
