Hope Mills Police Officers arrest shooting suspect

On March 1, 2018, at approximately 12:23 am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the McDonalds restaurant located at 2904 Traemoor Village Drive for a reported shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Responding Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who related that a person had shot his vehicle. The victim was able to provide Officers with a suspect description and direction of travel, and that the suspect had left the area on foot.

Hope Mills Officers canvased the area and were able to locate the suspect on Rockfish Road, close to Waldos Beach Road. The suspect, later identified as Fredrick Javonta Mcarn b/m 28 yoa, with a listed address on the 5000 block of Notblack Av, Hope Mills NC, was taken into custody without incident and a handgun was recovered from his person.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was in a vehicle behind the victim’s vehicle and had exited to the parking lot of McDonalds and began walking towards Rockfish Road. As the suspect was walking, he took a handgun out and began firing behind him , striking the victims vehicle multiple times. There were no injuries to the victim.
Mr. Mcarn was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Facility where he was charged with:

Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Vehicle.
