Teen Challenges Awareness Presentation 3/7/18 @ Thousand Oaks H.S. Performing Arts Center 6 pm. #ThousandOaksPolice
The challenges faced by our young people and teenagers today are overwhelming. They have far more to contend with than we ever did when we were their age. As great as the digital age is, there are some negative influences and consequences of social media and its surrounding behavior.
Those influences and consequences can have a far reaching effect on our children that may be felt years down the road in our technologically-based society. It is incumbent on parents and any adult involved in raising children to teach them tools to safely navigate the lure of unsafe and risky social media use. We must educate children to be good stewards of responsible behavior. Adults must also inform themselves on what is trending and specific techniques to help their children avoid and be aware of those pit falls and dangers. It is important to teach children because what they perceive is innocuous, innocent behavior, could lead to victimization or criminal acts.
To assist and educate our fine citizens in this important endeavor, the Thousand Oaks Police Department is teaming up with Interface, Conejo Valley Unified School District, Engage Thousand Oaks, Conejo Council PTA, The Family Justice Center for the County of Ventura, The Thousand Oaks Police Charitable Foundation and The Coalition for Family Harmony.
On March 7 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. we will present “Teen Challenges Awareness / #Me Too” at the Thousand Oaks High School Performing Arts Center. The event is open to middle and high school aged children and their parents. THE EVENT IS FREE AND AVAILABLE ON A FIRST COME / FIRST SERVE BASIS. NO RSVP IS REQUIRED.
We will also be having a pizza social from 5 P.M. to 6 P.M. Please join us for the event and learn what your children can and are going through. See the flyer for details.
