City of Sleepy Eye is declaring a snow emergency for this evening starting at midnight.
Vehicle(s) parked in the snow emergency route (downtown area) will have until 2 A.M. tonight to move to off street parking or out of the snow emergency route. Any vehicle left is subject to a ticket and/or tow. If you are not sure of the emergency route they are; 2nd Ave NW/SW from railroad tracks to Walnut St, 1st Ave from Oak St to Walnut St, 2nd Ave NE/SE from Oak to Walnut, Oak St from 2nd Ave NW to 3rd Ave NE, all of St Hwy 4 (3rd Ave NW/SW) within the city limits, and all of US Hwy 14 (Main St W/E) within the city limits.
Residential parking and all other areas have 24 hours after the snow emergency has been declared to move vehicle(s) from an unplowed location and for any unplowed spot to remain open until it has been cleaned. Remember it's also a violation if sufficient room isn't left for the snow plow to clean the spot. These vehicles are also subject to a ticket and/or tow.
Please let any guest expected or unexpected know about this ordinance and advise them to move if needed. Please call the Sleepy Eye Police Department at anytime at 507-794-3711 if you have any questions regarding the snow emergency ordinance.
