Electric Outage Update:

North Warren Regional HS, Blairstown Elementary, and Knowlton Elementary will be closed today March 9.

This was a painful decision, but one that had to made. All roads in Blairstown are passable, but many have all sorts of wires laying on the roadside. When JCP&L is energizing lines some of these downed wires become electrified.

Definitely stay far away from ANY lines. Whether it be power, telephone, cable TV, or even downed guy wires. They are tangled in many spots and even a mile away will be electrified when service to that area is turned on. If you witness sparking or a fire caused by an energized line, call 911 immediately.


JCP&L is working as fast as possible to restore service in Blairstown after a slow start today. We have reports that portions of Maple Lane and Mohican Road have power and work crews are on Four Corners. There are many pockets around the town with no electricity and we are strongly urging JCP&L on an hourly basis to restore service.

The CERT warming center is open from 3 -8 at the North Warren Regional HS cafeteria. Hot showers, delicious hot meals, and camaraderie are on the menu.


Yesterday we held our daily regional OEM meeting where relief coordination and the schools decision was decided.
