Advisory

Press release regarding assault with a deadly weapon incident in San Jacinto that occurred today.

Details:
On March 12, 2018, at 1120 A.M., Deputies from the San Jacinto Police Department, went to the 700 block of San Jacinto Ave, San Jacinto, reference a reported burglary and shots fired.

During the investigation they found a shop owner Nabeel Qandah, 42-year-old from San Jacinto, chased two subjects who were stealing two boxes of butane from his store. Qandah attempted to stop the subjects who entered a waiting vehicle and drove away. Qandah fired his handgun at the vehicle.

A short time later, Juan Miguel Macias, 41-year-old from San Jacinto, arrived at a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm. The investigation revealed Macias, accompanied by a 16-year-old minor, unlawfully removed the butane from the store without paying. As they drove away, it appears Qandah discharged his firearm.
Qandah was booked into the Riverside County Jail for the assault with a deadly weapon. Macias and the juvenile will also be charged with burglary and child endangerment.
