Starting March 19, construction will cause North Line Street to close from Oak Drive to E. Main Street.
North Penn Water Authority (NPWA) will begin the construction of a new 8" water main on North Line Street from Oak Drive to East Main Street. This new water main will replace an older water main prone to breakage and will enhance the public water supply and fire protection to the residents of the Borough.
Mobilization and construction will begin on Monday, March 19, 2018 starting at the intersection of Oak Drive and heading to East Main Street. After completion of the water main installation, water services will be renewed from the new water main to the property owner's curb stop located in the utility right of way behind the curb in the grass or sidewalk followed by soil, concrete & trench restoration. NPWA anticipates the construction work to take approximately 5 to 6 weeks. This work is being done in cooperation with the Borough and prior to our proposed overlay of Line Street.
In order to ensure the public and workers' safety, road closures and detours during the hours of work (7:00am-4:00pm) will be in place.
*Detour from Cowpath Road to North Broad Street to East Seventh Street
*Detour from East Seventh Street to North Broad Street to East Main Street
At the end of each work day, the roadway will be open and traversable. School buses, emergency vehicles and residents will have access to their homes, but may experience minor delays in some instances.
NPWA will make every effort to keep unobstructed access open to local residents to the fullest extent possible. We have notified the School District and your local emergency response units to assure they will have access and that your essential services are not interrupted. For your protection, NPWA has videotaped the property frontage of curbs, sidewalks, blacktop, lawns and driveways to ensure that any damage that may be caused is restored to a condition that is at least equal to the current condition. All concrete, blacktop, or grassy areas that are dug up will be restored.
NPWA regrets any inconvenience that you may experience during this period. This improvement project is part of their ongoing, asset management plan to replace older water mains in order to continue to provide customers with high quality drinking water and adequate fire protection. If there are any questions or concerns, call the NPWA office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
