“HIT AND RUN DRIVER DETAINED AFTER KILLING 54 YEAR OLD BICYCLIST”

Los Angeles- A 34 year old man has been detained for questioning after leaving the scene of a fatal traffic collision that occurred at the in intersection of Washington Blvd and Staunton Avenue at 8:40 a.m., in Newton Area.  The hit and run driver was operating a FedEx delivery van and was entering Washington Blvd northbound from a stop sign at Staunton Avenue. 
 
The driver struck 54 year old Elisa Gomez who was riding her bicycle eastbound on Washington Blvd.  After the collision, the driver continued northbound on Staunton Avenue without stopping to identify himself or render aid.  Gomez suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department.   
 
The driver was located later in the afternoon and is being questioned by detectives from Central Traffic Division.
