Multi-Agency Investigation into Officer Involved Shooting involving CHP Officer in Keyes
KEYES, CA: Last night at approximately 11:00 PM, a 2-person California Highway Patrol unit attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle traveling southbound Highway 99 near Keyes Road. The vehicle did not stop and fled from the CHP Officers. The CHP Officers discontinued to overtake the vehicle, due to the safety concerns to the public.
The suspect vehicle exited onto Keyes Road and was involved in a single vehicle traffic collision. As the initial CHP Officers arrived on scene of the crash to check on the welfare of the occupants, one of the CHP Officers was involved in a shooting with an occupant of the vehicle.
One subject was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident.
The details of what lead to the shooting are not being released at this time. The Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office are all conducting an investigation into this incident.
