Advisory

Major winter storm through late Wednesday night, 8-14 inches of snow, please remove vehicles from the street

A major winter storm is still on track to affect the area beginning this afternoon and lasting through early Thursday morning. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Thursday. Predicted snowfall accumulations have increased from yesterday to 8-14 inches possible. Periods of snow and sleet are likely this evening before snow becomes the dominant type late tonight into Wednesday.

The storm will have a significant impact on travel conditions, as well as the possibility of power outages and tree damage due to wind gusts between 25-40 miles per hour and the weight of the snow. Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially Wednesday afternoon and evening. Unnecessary travel is strongly discouraged during that timeframe.

Residents are urged to remove their vehicles off the street tomorrow in order for DPW crews to clean the roadways and make it safe for the public.

Residents who live on a designated Snow Emergency street MUST remove their vehicle from the street. A complete list of Snow Emergency and partial Snow Emergency streets may be found at www.northbrunswicknj.gov/snow/snow-emergency-streets.

Residents may park their vehicles in the parking lots at Babbage, Sabella and JFK parks. Please note that vehicles should NOT be parked at any of the Township school parking lots.

To report downed wires or power outages, please contact the PSE&G Customer Service line directly at 1-800-436-7734. You can also visit their website at https://www.pseg.com/home/customer_service/outage_info/outage_grid.jsp. If you have an emergency, please call 911. Please be sure to charge your cell phones and have flashlights available in the event of a power outage.

If you live near a fire hydrant, please help the Fire Department and your neighbors, by shoveling around the hydrant. This could be a life saving measure!

North Brunswick OEM will continue monitoring the storm and provide further updates as conditions warrant.
