BREAKING NEWS FROM THE TOWN OF LAKE LURE:
Today, March 20th, 2018, the Town of Lake Lure discovered a failing manhole in the lake that will warrant the lake being taken back down approximately six feet, beginning tomorrow morning, March 21st.
The unexpected, but necessary repairs are of such a critical nature, that if it is not addressed immediately, far worse damage may occur to the Town's sewer collection system.
The Town is committed to making the repairs as quickly as possible and hopes to have it addressed in about a week.
Until this incident, the lake had resumed being refilled on March 15th.
The failing manhole looks identical to this one, found all along the shoreline of the lake.
