Mountain lion observed around Tanforan Dr. and Bold Venture Dr.

SSPD: In the early morning hours of 3/20/18, a mountain lion was observed near Tanforan Drive and Bold Venture Dr. We do live in wild cat country and mountain lions are an indigenous species to the Tehachapi Mountains. If you do happen to encounter a mountain lion, please give it a very wide berth and respect its position and space. We have included some mountain lion information below. Thanks, and please stay safe!

Living in Mountain Lion Country
• Don’t feed deer; it is illegal in California and it will attract mountain lions.
• Deer-proof your landscaping by avoiding plants that deer like to eat
• Trim brush to reduce hiding places for mountain lions.
• Don’t leave small children or pets outside unattended.
• Install motion-sensitive lighting around the house.
• Provide sturdy, covered shelters for sheep, goats, and other vulnerable animals.
• Don’t allow pets outside when mountain lions are most active—dawn, dusk, and at night.
• Bring pet food inside to avoid attracting raccoons, opossums and other potential mountain lion prey.
