On Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at approximately 2pm, a Hope Mills Police Officer was stopped at the stoplight located at the intersection of Hope Mills Road and George Owen Road when he smelled smoked marijuana coming from a vehicle stopped near him at the stop light. The Officer performed a traffic stop on the vehicle in the parking lot of Elmwood Crossing shopping center parking lot. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Earnest Earl Brown, 29, of the 700 block of Mossywood Lane, Fayetteville, the Officer confirmed that the marijuana smoke was indeed coming from the vehicle that he stopped. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the Officer located marijuana and cocaine. After locating the narcotics, the Officer arrested Brown and transported him to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $31,000.00 bond for the following charges:

1 Felony Count of Maintaining a Vehicle for Narcotic Sales
1 Felony Count of Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine
1 Felony Count of Manufacturing Cocaine
1 Misdemeanor Count of Possession of Marijuana
1 Misdemeanor Count of Driving While License Revoked
