This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
 
Outlook: Precipitation will slowly expand into the region tonight ahead of an approaching low pressure system. As temperatures cool overnight...snow will become the primary precipitation type with sleet and freezing rain occasionally mixing in at times.
 
Hazards: slick and snow covered roads and surfaces will develop late tonight.
 
Timing: after 2 am.
 
Discussion: High pressure will shift east today with moisture surging into the region by this evening ahead of an approaching low pressure system.
 
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
 
Outlook: Significant snow accumulation is expected on Saturday.
Sleet may also mix in to the southwest of Interstate 74. Winds will be gusty as well on Saturday. Thunderstorms are possible Monday night into Tuesday. Gusty winds, heavy rain, and lightning are the main threats.
 
Discussion: A low pressure system is expected to bring snow to the northeastern half of central Indiana and rain to southwestern parts with a transition zone with a wintry mixture of precipitation in between. Another front will bring more rain and thunderstorms next week.
