Hamilton County Travel Warning Reduced to Travel Watch. Travel Not Recommended Unless Absolutely Necessary

The Travel Warning for roads in unincorporated areas of Hamilton County has been reduced to an orange level Travel Watch. A Travel Watch means conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a Travel Watch, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

On Saturday, March 24, the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 24 crashes and traffic hazards, including slide-offs, between 8:00AM and 6:00PM. At times during the afternoon, the combined law enforcement agencies in the county were working as many as 25 crashes and hazards at a time. These were primarily in the southern part of the county as some places in the northern part of the county received little snow.

Hamilton County Emergency Management is the entity responsible for issuing travel advisories and warnings during inclement weather. Questions concerning criteria used to establish advisories can be addressed to that agency.
