Gas Utility and Road Project to Close Whitehouse Road for 2 to 3 months, beginning April 2, 2018
City of Somersworth officials have been working with the City of Rochester's Department of Public Works on a traffic detour plan due to this project. Work is anticipated to begin on Monday April 2, 2018 and the road closure and detour plan established for motorist to use during the 2-3 month construction time frame. Unitil Gas Company will be working within the Rochester portion of the Road installing a new gas main and services in advance of the City of Rochester reclaiming and fully repaving the road.
During construction, access on Whitehouse Road will be limited to local traffic only. There will always be a minimum of a 10' lane kept open to local traffic and emergency vehicles.
Message boards warning of the upcoming road closure will be installed the week of March 26. The detour route is essentially using Rt. 108 and Tebbetts Road to get around Whitehouse Road.
