UPDATE: The suspect is now in custody and there is no additional threat to public safety. Police activity will continue in the area for several hours for further investigation. The area impacted by police activity will also be reduced over that time period.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE: At approximately 8:00 pm, the Newport Beach Police Department received a report of shots fired inside a residence in the 700 block of Marigold Avenue. Officers are on scene and the situation is still developing. If you are in the area, please stay indoors. Otherwise, please avoid the area.
