Man arrested on gun and drug charges in connection with Tuesday night shooting on Independence Dr 
Evansville Police have arrested 25 year old MILTON THOMAS Jr on charges related to his role in the April 3rd altercation at 909 Independence Dr. The altercation stemmed from a domestic dispute between THOMAS and a woman. Two men confronted THOMAS and the physical altercation took place.
During the altercation, THOMAS was stabbed in the head. Police believe THOMAS used a handgun to shoot the two other men involved in the altercation. The shooting left 62 year old David Chinn dead.
Based on the information available to the investigators at this time, police believe THOMAS was defending himself from further serious bodily injury when he opened fire. While the shooting appears to be a case of self defense, THOMAS is a convicted felon and he is not allowed to possess a firearm.
THOMAS is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon and Dealing Marijuana.
The 2nd man who was injured in the shooting remains hospitalized under police guard. His name and condition are not being released at this time.
