Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) will be hosting its annual Spring NASCAR race April 6-8!
The roads and area surrounding Texas Motor Speedway will be extremely congested with vehicles and people. The average Spring race brings in approximately 100,000 race fans.
Presently, there ARE Dirt Track events/races scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening; on Saturday & Sunday afternoon there are NASCAR races.
Please read the information below provided by the Fort Worth Police Department in reference to specific traffic information:
Friday, April 6th - Dirt Track races from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. There should not be an inbound Contraflow, but there may be a mini outbound contraflow. Traffic will remain heavier than normal until 11:00pm.
Saturday, April 7th - Race time is 2:00pm. Dirt Track races are from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. There should be an inbound contraflow starting at approximately 9:00am and ending at about 2:00pm. There will be a lull in traffic from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. Traffic will remain heavier than normal until 11:00pm.
Sunday, April 8th - Race time is 1:00pm. Inbound contraflow should start by 8:00am and last until race time. There will be a lull in traffic from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. At approximately 4:00pm, there will be a full outbound contraflow, TO INCLUDE THE TOWN OF NORTHLAKE on Hwy 114.
TRAFFIC TIPS
Neighborhoods that are west of IH-35W (Fairway of Champions, Harriett Creek and Rivers Edge) remember West is BEST! If you can avoid TMS traffic congestion, please do so by traveling to the west of the Speedway. Utilize 114 west of NorthWest High School. You can take Highway 114 to the west and utilize either John Day Road to travel to the south into Haslett or South County Line road to travel to the north and FM 407. The Fairway of Champions neighborhood can enter their neighborhood the easiest by approaching from the West.
Neighborhoods and businesses that are east of IH-35W (Chadwick Farms, Chadwick Apts., Creekside Apts, Dry Creek Apts, and area hotels) can utilize Litsey road to take you to either IH-35W and Eagle Parkway or Business 114 via Fairway Drive near the Hawaiian Falls.
NPD will have several designated officers working special detail to provide extra patrol and security to the neighborhoods.
