On 04/06/2018, at approximately 01:39am, Patrol units were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle collision at Rt. 130 & Adams Lane. First arriving units discovered that the collision was actually on the Northbound side of Rt. 130, nearest the Renaissance Boulevard intersection. Units reported two heavily damaged vehicles on the northbound side. The driver of one of the vehicles was entrapped, and freed from the vehicle by North Brunswick Fire & EMS personnel. As a result of this collision, one of the drivers was pronounced dead. There were no other occupants of that vehicle. The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for his injuries. His injuries have been deemed non-life threatening.
The incident is actively being investigated by our Traffic Bureau, led by Officer J. Zier. Anyone with information should contact him at 732-247-0922 *316. This early investigation is revealing that the 2015 Ford Fiesta may have been traveling opposite the flow of traffic on Route 130, until impacted by the oncoming vehicle.
In addition to our Department, the North Brunswick Fire Department and ESM responded, along with the NJDOT for traffic controls. The highway was closed and detoured for about two hours in order to safely investigate the incident.
