We waned to make you aware that the Saratoga Springs Police Department and the NYS State Park Police will be leading a simulated active shooter response training exercise this week from Monday through Friday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

State Police, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and civilian partners will also be participating in this training exercise which will be focused on joint coordination and emergency response during several simulated scenarios envisioning an active shooter. The entire fenced-in area of SPAC will be closed to the public. All area traffic will be alerted to the exercises at all entry points into the park

As a result of this exercise, you may notice an increase in police presence in the area of Spa State Park and you may hear simulated gun fire in the vicinity of SPAC between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Monday thru Thursday as well as from 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m on Friday during this weeklong exercise.

So you’ll know, all simulated weapons fire will be restricted to the backstage and amphitheater area of SPAC.  The simulated weapons are bright blue or have bright blue accents to readily identify them. They aren’t capable of firing live-duty rounds.
