Albany named Tree City, Arbor week activities planned
Albany has been named a Tree City USA for the 24th consecutive year, just in time for Oregon’s annual Arbor Week and National Arbor Day, April 27, 2018. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
These related activites, hosted by Albany Parks & Recreation Department are coming upl:
- Thursday, April 19, 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.: Sawing for Schools milling demonstration at Timber-Linn Memorial Park. Students from South Albany and West Albany high schools will see logs turned into lumber by Justin McMinds on his portable sawmill.
- Saturday, April 21, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: 11th annual Procession of the Species parade and celebration.www.cityofalbany.net/albanyspeciesparade
