Advisory

BE WEATHER-READY-Strong to severe storm expected this afternoon 4-7pm for the KC Metro-Monitor conditions

BE WEATHER-READY-The last thing anyone wants to be is confused when severe weather strikes. The definitions of watches and warnings can easily get jumbled, so keep this guide handy when a storm approaches your neighborhood. The National Weather Service uses these terms to convey a weather threat to the public.

OUTLOOK -An outlook is issued when a hazardous or hydrologic event is possible in the coming days. Outlooks are intended to raise awareness of the potential for significant weather that could lead to situations that may threaten life or property.

ADVISORY-An Advisory is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely. Advisories are for less serious conditions than warnings that cause significant inconvenience and if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life or property.

WATCH-A watch is used when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location or timing is still uncertain. A watch means that hazardous weather is possible. People should have a plan of action in case a storm threatens and they should listen for later information and possible warnings especially when planning travel or outdoor activities.

WARNING-A warning is issued when a hazardous or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely. A warning means weather conditions pose a threat to life or property. People in the path of the storm need to take protective action.

Please do not be caught off guard or confused with weather terms. Please be proactive with there is a threat of changing or dangerous weather conditions. Monitor weather changes, monitor media sources for the latest weather conditions. Stay indoors with weather is threating. Monitor media or the NOAA weather radio for weather updates.
